Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies this website uses, which third-party services load on some pages, and how you can control them. Last updated 25 October 2026.
What cookies are
What is a cookie?
A small text file that a website stores on your device. Some are needed for a service to work, and others record what you do for analysis or advertising.
Cookies and similar technologies, such as local storage, let a website remember something between page loads. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, a site needs your consent before it sets a cookie that is not strictly necessary. Cookies that are strictly necessary to provide something you have asked for do not need consent, but a site should still tell you about them.
This policy covers the website of Quayside Skylights Newcastle upon Tyne. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal data more widely.
What we set
Which cookies does this website set?
As delivered, none for advertising and none for analytics. WordPress may set functional cookies, but only for administrators who are logged in.
This site does not set advertising cookies, and it does not set analytics or tracking cookies. We do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not pass visit data to advertising networks.
Functional cookies for administrators
The site runs on WordPress. WordPress can set functional cookies to keep a person logged in and to remember their dashboard settings. These are set only when an administrator signs in. An ordinary visitor who reads pages and sends an enquiry does not receive them.
If this changes
If we add analytics or any other non-essential cookie to the site in future, we will update this policy first, and ask for your consent before any such cookie is set.
Third parties
What do the map, the form and WhatsApp load?
The contact map pulls tiles from OpenStreetMap, the enquiry form comes from a third-party CRM, and WhatsApp is a separate service with its own rules.
The contact page map
Our contact page shows a map built from OpenStreetMap tiles. OpenStreetMap does not set tracking cookies through these tiles. Because your browser fetches the tiles directly, your IP address reaches the tile servers, as it does for any resource a page loads.
The enquiry form
Our enquiry form is run by an outside CRM supplier and sits inside the page. That provider may set its own strictly necessary cookies so that the form works and submits correctly. We do not control those cookies, and the provider's own policy governs them.
If you choose to message us through WhatsApp, you leave this site and use a separate service. WhatsApp sets and handles its own cookies and data under its own terms, and nothing in this policy covers them.
| Source | What it does | Who sets it |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising and analytics | None used as delivered | Not applicable |
| WordPress login | Keeps an administrator signed in | This site, for logged-in administrators only |
| Enquiry form | Strictly necessary for the form to work | The third-party CRM provider |
| Contact map | Loads map tiles; no tracking cookies | OpenStreetMap servers |
Your controls
How can I control or delete cookies?
Every browser lets you block, limit or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop a form from working.
You can manage cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you see which cookies are stored, delete some or all of them, and block cookies from particular sites or from third parties. The steps differ between browsers, so look in the settings or help menu under privacy or cookies.
- You can delete existing cookies at any time.
- You can set your browser to warn you before a cookie is stored.
- You can block third-party cookies while allowing those from sites you visit.
If you block everything, some embedded services, such as the enquiry form, may not work. In that case you can email info@quaysideskylightsnewcastle.co.uk or use WhatsApp on 07880 284133 instead.
For general guidance on cookies and your rights, the Information Commissioner's Office publishes plain explanations at ico.org.uk.
