Our aim

What standard do you aim for?

We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard used for public sector websites in the UK.

WCAG 2.1 AA covers how perceivable, operable, understandable and robust a website is. We treat it as the target for every page on this site, from the homepage to the policies.

This statement applies to the website of Quayside Skylights Newcastle upon Tyne. It was prepared on 25 October 2026.

What is in place

What have you done to make the site accessible?

Semantic headings, labelled form controls, keyboard navigation, visible focus, checked contrast, text alternatives and respect for reduced motion.

  • Pages use a proper heading order, so screen reader users can move through them by heading.
  • Form controls have labels that are read out with the field.
  • Every link and button can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, and the focus position is clearly visible.
  • Text and background colours have been checked for contrast.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives, and decorative images are marked so that assistive technology skips them.
  • No content is hidden behind motion, and where an animation is used, the site respects the reduced motion setting on your device.

You can also enlarge the text in your browser without the layout breaking apart.

Known limits

Where does the site fall short?

The enquiry form is a third-party embed we do not fully control, and the contact map is a visual aid whose details are also given in text.

The enquiry form

The form for enquiries is supplied by an outside company and sits inside our page. We cannot guarantee that every part of it meets WCAG 2.1 AA. If you find it hard to use, there are other ways to reach us, listed below.

The contact map

The contact page also shows a map, which is a visual aid. It does not carry any information that is not also written in text on the page, so you do not need the map to contact us or to know where we work.

Other content

If you find something else that is hard to use, please tell us. We may not yet know about it.

Report a problem

How do I report a problem or ask for another format?

Email info@quaysideskylightsnewcastle.co.uk or use WhatsApp on 07880 284133. You will hear back from us soon.

If you cannot use part of the site, or you want information in another format, tell us which page, what you were trying to do and what got in the way. Message us by email or WhatsApp, whichever you find easier.

We aim to answer within [operator to confirm: N days], and to give you the information you need in a way that works for you, such as plain text in an email or a message.

If you are not satisfied

If you feel we have not dealt with your report properly, you can follow our complaints procedure. In England, the Equality Advisory and Support Service also gives free advice on discrimination and accessibility rights.
